IPL 2021 Match 12: RR v/s CSK. CSK wins back-to-back matches.

Hello everyone. Let's talk about the 12th match that was played between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Wankhede stadium. MS Dhoni was captaining Chennai in his 200th match and he was impressive yet again just like he has been over the years for the franchise.

Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the batting for Chennai but Gaikwad had his third consecutive failure. He struggled to time the ball and was dismissed on 10 runs. Faf played a quick-fire inning and made 17 balls - 33 runs but was dismissed by Chris Morris yet again. The next batsmen, Moeen Ali and Suresh Raina scored 26 and 18 respectively and tried maintaining the run rate. Ambati Rayudu too was impressive today and scored 27 runs in 17 balls. But once Chennai was 5 wickets down, their run-rate came down. MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja couldn't get quick runs and Chennai looked to lose the trail at that stage. But Sam Curran and Dwayne Bravo brought the momentum back for Chennai as they made 6 balls - 13 runs and 8 balls - 20 runs respectively. Chennai made 40+ runs in the last 3 overs and reached 188 runs in 20 overs. Rajasthan had to win 189 in win the match.

Jos Buttler and Manan Vohra came to open for Rajasthan and they tried scoring quick runs up-front. Manan Vohra couldn't capitalize on his start once again and was caught in the deep by Ravindra Jadeja. And Sanju Samson failed again today as he was dismissed by Sam Curran on 1 run. But that's when Buttler started playing his shots. Buttler was looking good and was timing the ball well but was bowled by Jadeja in the 12th over. Buttler made 49 runs in 35 balls. Jadeja took the second wicket in the over and dismissed Shivam Dube too. And the spinners took control of the match from there. Moeen Ali took 3 wickets in the match. The runs scored by Rahul Tewatia and Jaydev Unadkat at the back-end were just a formality and Chennai won the match by 45 runs.

Chetan Sakariya was impressive for Rajasthan once again as he took 3 wickets by giving away just 36 runs in his 4 overs. For Chennai, Moeen Ali took 3 wickets and Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja took 2 wickets each.

Chennai would be impressed with their overall performance. They could have made 20 more runs but their bowlers did the job well for them. Rajasthan would be disappointed with their batsmen as they had the match in control at one stage when Buttler was in the middle. Their middle order would want to perform better in the next matches.

The next match would be played between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. Both teams have won their last match and would be looking to win another one. Delhi is flying down to Chennai after playing their 3 matches at Mumbai. Let's see which team wins this match. Find the report here on Wednesday morning.
